Shoulder pain is a common problem that can range from mild to severe. It can be acute (short-term) or chronic (long-term). The pain may be felt in the shoulder joint itself or in the surrounding muscles, tendons, and ligaments. It may also radiate to other parts of the body, such as the neck or arm.

There are many potential causes of shoulder pain, including injuries, overuse, and degenerative conditions such as osteoarthritis. Some common symptoms of shoulder pain include:

  • Dull, aching pain

  • Sharp, shooting pain

  • Stiffness or difficulty moving the shoulder

  • Swelling or tenderness

  • Weakness in the shoulder or arm

There are several common shoulder issues that people may experience. Some of the most common include:

  1. Tendinitis: This is an inflammation of the tendons in the shoulder, which can cause pain and stiffness.

  2. Bursitis: This is an inflammation of the bursae (small fluid-filled sacs) in the shoulder, which can cause pain and swelling.

  3. Rotator cuff injuries: The rotator cuff is a group of muscles and tendons that help to move and stabilize the shoulder. Injuries to these structures can cause pain, weakness, and difficulty moving the shoulder.

  4. Osteoarthritis: This is a type of degenerative joint disease that can affect the shoulder joint, causing pain, stiffness, and loss of mobility.

  5. Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis): This is a condition in which the shoulder joint becomes stiff and painful, often after an injury or surgery.
